Miniature Frequency Board

RCGroups Thread

This is a miniature frequency board that you can easily transport and hang from a support at your flying site, such as the frame of a tent, or the rear hatch of a car or pickup truck. It's meant for sites where you can't install a permanent board. It measures 11-1/2 inches high, 3-1/2 inches wide, and 1-3/4 inches deep. It took me a couple of hours to make.

It's built from two 11-1/2" X 3-1/2" sheets of 1/8" thick Lexan (polycarbonate, not plexiglass), a 1-1/2" X 5/8" X 11-1/2" block of wood (painted), six wood screws, a screw-in eye hook, a chain, number labels made with a label maker, and a supply of clothes pins. I used an 1/8" drill for the screw holes and a 1/2" drill for the 60 holes that accept the clothes pins. I used an Exacto knife to clean up the edges of the holes after I drilled them.

Here are the dimensions. If you can print this with a size of 3-1/2" X 11-1/2", you could use it as a template to drill the holes.

Also, if you can print this with a size of 7" X 11-1/2 inches, you can cut out the two number sections and use them instead of the individual labels that I used.

numbers

The black numbers 00 through 09 can serve two purposes. They're mainly for the 50 Mhz ham radio channels, but they could also be used for other bands such as 27 Mhz, 49 Mhz, 53 Mhz, and 2.4 Ghz. In those cases the frequency or "SS" can be written on the clothes pin.
